How do I participate in KMs of Compassion and how far do I need to go?

  • Kilometres of Compassion will be back in November 2022, but how it works is simple! Set yourself a personal challenge; exactly what you do, and how many kilometres you cover is up to you, but make it meaningful, something beyond your usual workout. Your commitment to your challenge will motivate your friends, family or colleagues to donate toward your fundraising target.

But remember, no matter where you are, how far you go, or how you move, you can support refugees, join us today

When is KMs of Compassion back for 2022?

  • Kilometres of Compassion will be back in November 2022 so keep an eye out and express your interest here to be the first to hear once the date has been set!

What kind of exercise do I have to do?

  • Set yourself a personal challenge, exactly what you do, and how far you go is up to you. You could run, walk, swim, cycle, kayak, rollerblade or dance, the choice is endless. But make your challenge meaningful and something beyond your norm that will motivate others to donate toward your fundraising target.

Do I have to exercise? Can't I do something else?

  • You can do something else, but remember, the harder the challenge is, the more motivated your friends, family or colleagues will be to donate toward your fundraising target, and whatever you do, you are championing hope and empowering people seeking asylum by participating and raising funds for the ASRC.

Can I do it with other people?

  • Yes! When you register, you can choose to create a team then you will be the team captain and have a team page AND individual page created for you. Your individual page will be joined to your team page and displayed as a team member.

Whatever activity you decide to do, please ensure you follow the COVID restrictions and guidelines outlined by your local Government.

Run 4 Refugees

What is Run 4 Refugees?

  • Run 4 Refugees is the ASRC’s flagship community fundraising activity. It isn’t just one event, it is hundreds of people throughout Australia taking part in different public events and setting their own challenges to raise funds to support refugees and people seeking asylum.

You can Run 4 Refugees your way by participating in any public running or walking event in your community, or by setting your own challenge. That’s right, you can walk or push a pram or wheel a wheelchair, you don’t have to run. Simply have fun, raise money and show your support for refugees and people seeking asylum.

The funds you raise along the way will enable people seeking asylum to access healthcare, food security, legal support and more.

No matter which public event you enter, or how you move, you can champion hope and empower people seeking asylum as part of Team ASRC.

When is Run 4 Refugees?

  • Run 4 Refugees is held all year round. We always enter a team in Bridge to Brisbane, Sydney’s City2Surf and the Melbourne Marathon Festival, so join our fundraising team or take part in your own way by participating in another event or setting your own challenge to have some fun, raise money and stand with people seeking asylum.

Do I have to physically run to participate in Run 4 Refugees?

  • No! You can run, walk, roll, skip, jog or push a pram. Whatever you do, you are championing hope and empowering people seeking asylum by participating and raising funds for the ASRC.

  • Absolutely. Join our virtual campaign Kilometres of Compassion campaign in November 2022. Express your interest here to be the first to hear once the date has bee

If you have an idea for a public event you would like to organise, we’d love to hear about it! Drop us an email at run@asrc.org.au.

Do I need to pay to participate in Run 4 Refugees?

Is Run 4 Refugees COVIDSafe?

You can share your fundraising page in a variety of ways (for example through social media, email, text messaging and WhatsApp) and ask your friends and family to donate directly to it. We have some useful Resources to help you promote your page and some suggested wording in the email template.
You will also receive a donation box in your Run 4 Refugees kit in the post. These boxes can be displayed at your workplace for cash donations.

How can people donate?

Get friends, family and colleagues to donate directly on your personal fundraising page, that way the money comes directly to the ASRC automatically and they’ll receive a tax receipt (for any donations over $2) automatically.
